OMG! Something got messed up over the past several months and I keep getting: error after error after error no matter what I do when trying to reinstall Tunnelblick because it stopped working, had a bunch of other errors and now this:

Installation or Repair Failed
"The installation, removal, recovery, or repair of one or more Tunnelblick components failed. See the Console Log for details."

I was able to change settings on openvpnstart from -rwxr-xr-x to: ---s--x---

but none of them changed to root user, they all remained under ownership of the admin user

$ ---s--x---    1 hdadmin  hdadmin    64128 Mar  3  2010 openvpnstart
$ drwxr-xr-x    3 hdadmin  hdadmin      102 Mar  3  2010 tap.kext
$ drwxr-xr-x    3 hdadmin  hdadmin      102 Mar  3  2010 tun.kext

What the heck does that mean?

Also:
I didn't find any devices called tun0, tun1 when entering “/sbin/ifconfig | grep tun”

console has tons of these errors:

# Tunnelblick[981] openvpnstart has missing set uid bit, is not owned by root, or owner can't execute it
# Nov 14 19:25:51 HD2A authexec: executing /Applications/Tunnelblick.app/Contents/Resources/installer
# installer[1006] *** NSTask: Task create for path /usr/sbin/chown failed: 8, "Exec format error".
# installer[1005] Tunnelblick Installer: Error return code 5 from installer execution of /usr/sbin/chown: (
#     "-R",
#     "root:wheel",
#     "/Applications/Tunnelblick.app/Contents/Resources",
#     "/Applications/Tunnelblick.app/Contents/Info.plist"
# )
#  HD2 crashdump[1007]: installer crashed
#  HD2 crashdump[1007]: crash report written to: /Users/hdadmin/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/installer.crash.log
# Tunnelblick[981] openvpnstart has missing set uid bit, is not owned by root, or owner can't execute it
# Tunnelblick[981] Installation or repair failed

I have uninstalled / deleted /reinstalled tunnelblick at least a dozen times in the past few days alone, have ran disk utility, disk warrior and applejack and I always get the same errors over and over again.

Can you possibly help? Sure would appreciate it. I can't find any other source that seems to be related or knowledgeable about this.

Thanks!
10.4.11 PPC

P.S. Started having errors/alerts/problems also w/ClamXAV after installing updated version 2.0.8 in case that adds any other clues.

sure hope to hear from you cheers!
